Importing XML file from FCP to CS5

Hello peoples of the interwebs :)

Hoping someone might be able to help me out. I am trying to edit some stuff a friend helped me with on her Mac but of course I use a PC with Premiere Pro. I found a way for us to share the project file as long as we have all the footage. She exports an XML file and in theory my Prem Pro CS5 can read it.

We export fine, and even import seems okay. I go through the steps of telling it where the files are on my computer. It even creates peak files and all. The problem comes when I try to play the sequence. It just wont play. The files are all there in the sequence along with the audio and the transitions and stuff but I press the play button and nothing.

There was another sequence that was part of the file which just has a still and that seems to play okay.

Any help would be most welcome.

Cheers,

Ed

Are you dealing with any pro res files or did you friend you any plugins that wouldn't work in Premiere?

Hey there as far as I know, there were no plugins and not much in terms of complex stuff. As I said, the files import okay I just can't seem to play the sequence.

That doesn't make any sense. I've done this multiple times and have had no problems with the sequence. Have you check Adobe TV to see how they show u to do it

Hey,

So I did in fact check Adobe TV before I even tried it but looked at it again and still no clue as to what I am doing wrong. I tried starting a new project to match the settings of the FCP project but no luck. When I actually try to edit the time line Prem Pro crashes too.

Ive tried searching forums and it seems I am alone on this. If anyone could point me in the right direction I would appreciate it :)

I recently had a similar problem importing XML files from Avid into a Sony Vegas project. I wound up downloading the 30-day trial version of Avid Media Composer and using it to convert the files to .AVI files. Not sure if something similar would help you.
