Importing PSD files - another question.

I'm trying to import a lower third file from Photoshop to FCP. The Photoshop file isn't importing to FCP the way it's supposed to - one of the layers (the lower third bar) isn't showing up. I tried saving to a JPEG, but that created a white background that covers the video even though in Photoshop it's a transparent file...does this make any sense?

Also, every time I make a change in Photoshop, FCP says the file went offline and I have to reconnect.

This is very frustrating.
Any thoughts or advice? Thanks.

Another question...how do i get a Photoshop file to import into FCP as a still rather than a sequence?

I have two Photoshop files, and both are identical as near as I can tell. Let's cal them A and B. A imports as a sequence and B imports as a still.

If I do a "Save As" and create a copy of B, that copy of B imports as a sequence, and not as a still.

There must be a simple trick I'm missing but i can't figure it out. Help! Please!

Flatten in photoshop to a single layer with transparency then save as a new photoshop file. Reconnecting when you change and re-save the photoshop file is normal.

Noa

I just did this:

Layer
-Flatten Image
Discard Hidden Layers? Cancel or OK (I clicked OK)

This created a PSD with a white background...how do I make a transparent background?

I also made a copy of it and the copy imports as a layered graphic sequence, not a still...I'm losing it!

Note: the files that import as a still were last modified on a PC and now I'm on a Mac - could that somehow make a difference?

Sorry for all the questions, but this is killing me as I have a lot of work due soon.
Thanks.

Select all layers, Apple-E to combine and retain transparency. Maybe I need to do a Call Box Photoshop for video editors....

Nope...I did that and then made a copy and the copy still imports as a sequence.
Premiere Pro was a dream compared to this...I never had a problem importing a PSD.
