Howdy Folks

I need to import some powerpoint files into FCP. Just curious as to what I need to convert them to , and how. Thanks in advance.

The following process creates a single JPEG image for each slide. You can then import the JPEG files into FCP and do virtually whatever you want with them.

Here we go...
In the Save As dialog box there is a pulldown menu. One of the menu choices is "Save as JPEG" or something along those lines. Choose it and click on Options. Make sure "Save All Slides" is selected instead of "Save Current Slide." If you intend to do any scaling of the slides, set your resolution to 100DPI. If not, set the DPI to 72.

Also, you should play the powerpoint presentation one time before doing the Save As so you can determine how many of the slides have transitions built into them (such as multiple bullet points dissolving onto a single slide) because these transitions won't show up as part of your exported slides. If you find a slide that contains multiple transitions, just duplicate the slide and edit the text so you can create the built-in transitions in FCP.
