Importing GH2 folders/fiiles already on hd to fcp x w/o transcoding or copying

Hi
I've already copied a bunch of interviews from sd cards shot on GH2 to my hard drive. The folders are intact. I have FCP7 but want to download a trial of X. However, I have several books re X neither of which explain how to import avchd files into an event without copying or transcoding.

Do I just uncheck the 'copy' box? Can I just drag either the .mts files or their folders into X? What if there are also pics that I'd like to separate into different folders or even events.

If I can't drag and frop, is there a thread or video somewhere that explains it or can someone do the honors?

Using MBPro 15" with fw800 hds.

If they are .mov files use the Import Files option. If they are not .mov files use the Import From Camera option. If you use Import From Camera you can create an archive (exact duplicate of original card) to a backup drive, also.

You can copy to the Event folder if you wish, nor leave the originals where they are. Its just personal choice.

I'd put it all into on Event, then use a Smart Collection to separate out what's video and what's photographs.

You can only drag and drop native supported formats, and they will import depending on the Import selections in the Preferences window.

I cover the mechanics of how media is manage in FCP X here.
