Importing Batch List

I just tried to import a txt file that I created in Excel, to use as a Batch List to capture footage. It keeps coming up with the error message "One or more items on the header line do not match valid Browser column headings". I triple checked the formatting and it looks fine, does anyone have a sample text file I could get? Thanks, Ben.

Final Cut is picky about this. I've found that I need to hide all the Browser column headings except for those I've used in my log file. For example, if your log uses the column headings NAME and SHOT and TAKE, then before you import it, go to Final Cut's Browser window, control-click on every other browser column heading and select Hide Column until SHOT & TAKE are the only two standing (NAME is obviously the first column, which can't be hidden.) Then import. If you prep your batch lists like this a lot, control-click in the column heading once again and select Save Column Layout to save your mouse button the next time you do an import.

This thread is pretty old, but to follow up: I have occasionally had this problem, but usually a careful examination of my column headers reveals a user error. But currently FCP is refusing to accept a BCL that I have verified about 30 times to be in correct format. I have also tried saving the BCL in different file types to no avail.

I thought maybe something was just stuck (you never know), so I even trashed my preferences and started over. Still no. I get the same message as above, when I know damn well that my column headers are fine.

Any thoughts from anyone?

Again this message is very old, but this caught me today and this was the only thing in google - so for those that hit it in future....

After checking all my columns 100 times I finally tracked it down to the type of line endings that I was using. I had exported in UNIX file format whereas FCP will only correctly read files in DOS or Mac format. Go figure. Open the file in TextEdit or similar and save as using a different format.

Amyone figured this out yet?

Anyone ever figured this out? It's nutty. I'm having the same problem. Used Iworks Numbers to create the batch list, copied and pasted into TextEdit. Did a format to plain text. Saved as a UTF 8. Also tried Western Mac Roman. It still doesn't import into FCP. :crybaby:
