Importing 1280x780 50p (SP) MP4 into CS3 - Urgent help required

Hey Guys,

I'm new to the site but have been working in video for about 3 years now.

So here's the skinny.

I've been working off HDV for about 2 years and have encountered and solved every problem I've ever had on my own so this asking for help thing is new to me too.

I cut with Premiere pro CS3 and I've just bought a JVC GY-HM700. I recently recorded some footage for a time lapse sequence at 1280x780 50p (sp) and backed up the clips to my harddrive. It came time to import the clips and none of the 'new project' settings seem to allow the import. The files come up as damaged or incompatible.

I'm completely at a loss here so any help will be very much appreciated! I came to this site because of the outstanding reviews it has recieved so here's hoping the experts are here today!

Cheers guys and gals,

Premiere CS3 is not compatible with a lot of the new formats, and the HM700 might be one of them. It looks like the HM700 record in an XDCAM EX like format, and XDCAM-EX wasn't supported until CS4. Seems like the camera also records in ProRes mov format for FCP, and that will not be compatible with CS3 either.

Cheers Huy Vu,

If thats the case, surely CS4 would work, right? I'll upgrade so. Didn't want to have to it but I guess needs must. One can set the camera to record in mp4 or mov. I set it to mp4 and that's how it registers on the harddrive so it must be correct. The mind boggles slightly because I've updated my CS3 and it includes the XDCAM-EX settings. I don't know. I'll give the upgrade a shot and hope for the best.

Cheers
