imported vs. exported QT clips

In trying to figure out why I can't get a program like SimpleVideoOut to send video to my b'cast monitor, I realized something: although I can import QT clips from DV Rack or an nNovia drive, I can't export a QT movie from FCP and then import it back into FCP. Is there a difference in format? If so, I bet that explains it. If FCP can't handle it, probably SVO can't either.

Ahhh, how's that possible? If you used FCP to export it then FCP has the necessary codec for reading it. People do this all the time as part of trouble shooting outputs. Maybe if you break down your problem more we might get a better idea of what your problem is.

Problem solved! The clips I was trying were exported with H264 codec. At least for me, those won't import into FCP or play in SVO. When I fixed that and re-exported, it worked!
