Import Time/Date from dvx100a

I am trying to do a log and capture - capturing the time and date display on the dvx's monitor. It will work fine dubbing tape to tape, but I am now trying to do it over firewire in log and capture.
Is there something I need to turn on in final cut to view this data?

I laid a test piece of footage in the timeline. I can see the date / time on the footage in my external device... (the dvx100 LCD), but not in the canvas.
PLEASE HELP!!!!
This is a deposition that I just did that I have to lay out to DVD with time/date stamp on footage.

Can't be done- you'd need to dub via S-video to another DV device first. Just burn it in as a title.

So theres no way to send that title (OSD out) over firewire? I appreciate the input.
What cam would you recommend for dep work that will give you tiem/date stamp?
