Import on another system, edit in FCP?

I'm having trouble getting the content off my HVX via p2 and into FCP. I have a deadline, so I'm considering dealing with the issue later and importing with a friend's PC, copying the files over, and editing on my machine (FCP). Would this work?
 
Importing onto a friends PC in what editing app? If you can use their machine to offload the cards, and they give you the drive so you can use Log and Transfer, that will work best. Why can' you offload on your machine?
 
Premiere, I believe is what they use? I'd probably just offload the files themselves.

I've never been able to offload onto my machine, with two different HVXs. Either my computer never sees the HVX, FCP never sees the HVX, or the HVX never goes to "connect" in USB model. It's very frustrating, and I can't seem to get a straight answer as to why, but I need to finish this video for a client regardless.

Or mount the p2 cards on the PC, and share them so the Mac can mount them for log and transfer.
 
As I said, either my computer never sees the HVX, FCP never sees the HVX, or the HVX never goes to "connect" in USB model.
