Import HDV footage: Codec not found

Hey there

I'm on a Mac using Premiere CS3.

A friend captured some footage of the FX-1 on his PC using Premiere 1.5 and sent me the files...

On importing the files Premiere states "Codec missing or not available".
My friend told me he imported the footage with the Premiere HDV preset Codec.

Is there any way I can make those files work on my System?

Additionally I have another question: Are Premiere project files from PC Premiere not compatible with the MAC version? We actually wanted to do the rough cut on his system and then move over to my system (for some logistic reasons), but it seems not to work either...

Thanks for your help,
really appreciate it!

Best,
Max.

Quick update:

I downloaded the CineForm NEO Player trial... now I can at least scrubb through the material in Quicktime AND use it with limitation in FCP.

In Premiere it does still not work... I don't get that...
Can anyone bring light into my darkness? :)

Thanks a lot,
Max.

You have to have the HDV codec installed on the Mac, which only comes with Final Cut Studio. If it's not in Library>Quicktime>AppleHDVcodec.component, you don't have it.

Thanks for the answer, I do own final cut studio, the codec is there... still the problem with premiere... without the cineform codec I could not even open the HDV files in FCP
