Implementing Scrolling Text

Greetings,

We have a closed circuit Television station that is run via a windows computer. I am looking to add a text scroll to the video signal, like CNN or ESPN. I have no experience in doing so, can anyone suggest the hardware/ equipment needed to do so?

Thanks!

Let's start by defining exactly what "run via a windows computer" means? Exactly what software? Exactly what hardware? You should start by investigating whatever software/hardware you are currently using to see if you can add this feature.

Are you talking about full-screen "slides" like a barker channel? Or are you talking about overlaying moving text over live video? What video source is on the channel now?

Thanks for the reply Richard. The program is called Adige. We used to be an affiliate of Resort Sports Network (Now Outside Television) and this is the system they required, as it was built and designed by them.

So essentially the video signal comes out of the PC into a modulator and then to the local cable system. I am looking to overlay moving text on the very bottom of the screen. I had looked into doing this in the past and am pretty sure i just need a basic character generator and was looking to get some suggestions on some units others may have used.

Hope this answers some of your questions. Thanks again for the reply.

I can't find ANY information online about software called "Adige".
Based only on the minimal information available, it appears you have two options:
1) Replace Adige with some other software that does what you need. I suspect there are other products that will do this.
2) Put a video overlay keyer inline between the PC output and the modulator input. This will likely be way more expensive than option #1 and way less flexible (not to mention the problem of keeping two systems running, no way of coordinating them, etc.
