iMovie Help

I've shot a short using my dvx100b and I'm thrilled with the quality of my images. But when I import the footage into iMovie there is a serious drop in quality. It's very grainy, dark, and just plain crappy.

I'm looking to put together a rough edit with iMovie while I save for Final Cut, but of course I would still like a nice looking product.

Has anyone experienced this with iMovie and what can I do to get a nicer image?
