iMovie and DVCPRO 50?

I have a friend that's going to school and has to shoot a little silent exercise for a class... he will edit it himself and I think he said he is using iMovie or whatever the name is for the free NLE that comes with Apple.

He was considering borrowing my HVX when I told him about the better codec onto tapes but we don't know if he'll be able to "capture and play"... anyone out there have a clue about this?

He shoots tomorrow in the morning.

Thanks.

I found this... does it mean that all it reads is AVCHD, MPEG-2 and H.264?

Cause that's quite shitty if so... and I don't get it cause he said he already ingested DV tapes before...? Am I missing something about DV tapes?

iMovie handles regular DV just fine. It won't remove the pulldown on 24p or 24pA material, but it'll edit it on a 29.97 timeline without any problems.

screw that... I am just going to edit the darn thing for the guy, hopefully he'll work hard on my project instead of forgetting

thanks bigboss!
