If you shoot 24p (not 24pa) then you can edit and capture fine with iMovie. 30p should be the same since both of these output 29.97 (norm video) that iMovie can capture/edit.
Note that iMovie will not edit it at 24fps but that's fine since the non-advanced is 29.97 that can be edited and will still have the filmic quality since the original was 24fps.
