IMDB question

I have had a film languishing in 2012 since, well, 2012. I see the date is now changed to 2013. Is that automatic via IMDB if a film sits unchanged for too long, or does that change need to come from those in charge of the content (production company)?

IMDB always shows the year of release, and not the year of production. So, while I don't know the answer as a fact, it stands to reason that they would automatically have any film that hasn't been released update, since the soonest it could possibly be released is the current year. To get an absolute answer you'll probably need to email them, since I assume you've already checked their help files.
