IMDB Listing Requirements?

I tried submitting something years ago and it wasn't accepted, even though it was a full length feature. I think if some people involved with the film are already listed on IMDB then that helps. If everyone involved is a newbie then they're more suspicious and think it's just a homemade piece of junk. Are any of the crew already listed on IMDB?

I tried submitting a movie of mine before to the IMDB as well - they said there wasn't enough "public interest" in the piece. I think that's what they look for the most - so playing at a major film festival, having a name, or someone already on the IMDB would help.

a guy I know submitted his film "enraged new world" and now I'm on there as soldier #2 or something. But it was just a little student film with nothing too special about it compared to others.
Don't know why or how it was accepted.

The listing requirements are strange sometimes. For festivals, they told me that the showing must be "documentable" (?). The project in question was listed once it was bought by distrbutor, and listed on there site. For other projects I worked on, the Director was already listed, so the projects got listed as "announced" and then "in production". For another project, the listing wasn't posted until the Producer sold another project that was produced after the project I worked on.
Get the name of your project "out there" (on the 'net ) and once it is documentable as a ligit project, it should get an IMDB listing.

Playtime at a major festival. It didn't used to be so difficult. Some friends of mine got on there back in 1998 from a single episode of a cable access show they put together in college. Now that they're on IMDB, they can add to their credentials as needed. One guy even put his "uncredited set P.A." on there for the movie Seabiscuit.
I'm told you either need your project to have public exposure (major film festival) or you can pay them. I'm confident in the first, less so in the latter. I think if you go "Pro" you can add yourself on to things, but please interpret that as rumor, not doctrine.
On the other hand, those guys who made the college show have since made several shorts and a music video with Varicam and they won't accept any of them because they only played at "underground" film festivals, so I guess what I'm trying to say is: I don't know for sure how to get yourself on IMDB. Barry Green and Jarred Land seemed to have it figured out, though.
