Have anyone bought any light kits from them. If so, how are they? I see the prices are pretty cheap. I'm just concerned. Thanks in advance

Do a google search for "image west dvxuser" and I think a couple threads will pop up. I was looking to buy 3 1k's from them. Have not done it yet, but I plan to. Everyone seems happy with the price/quality but I think the service is lacking. Don't take my word for it though. I don't own any yet.

I always had this "iffy" feeling when buying from them but all was ok. There is a little lag time between their replies to service related questions but they did get back to me. I bought some green screen material shipped right away and bought some Frezzi lights and batteries from them. All was as ordered and worked fine.

I know the owner of the company and can vouch for them. They're legit. The lights aren't Arri quality but they're not built that bad. They do have some killer package deals that no one else has especially in the fresnel department if you're looking for kits as opposed to piecing something together.

Thanks for the replies...I read the very long thread on this site and it was very helpful....Once again, thanks! Anymore replies is gladly appreciated.

I just bought the 1600w Blu-Line Fresnel kit. 2-650w and 1-300w, stands with bags, barndoors, 2 sets of gels and 2 bags. The customer service was great. I needed the lights for an industrial shoot, they overnighted them to me and threw in a couple extra bulbs to ease the pain (a bit). I had a few technical questions that they answered right away (well as soon as the tech guys showed up at 8am). My only complaints are no manuals/documentation and that the lights don't focus to a tight beam like the Arris. Is it worth an extra $500-$1000 per kit for a super tight beam? As of now not really. I will be shooting a narrative on sunday so I'll be testing the lights out a lot more.

One thing that's not crystal clear from their webpage; the fresnel kit only contains one true fresnel lens light. The other two lights are floods with a setting from wide to wider, and are intended (apparently) to be used primarily with the provided soft boxes, which they do nicely. just don't think you are getting three Arri-like fresnel lights.

They actually do sell full fresnel kits, they're in the Blueline Lamp section - they do offer Arri fresnels with their open-faced lights as packages too - perhaps thats what you saw?

The advertising is misleading as fresnel is based on a fresnel lens in front of the light. There's no open-faced fresnel. I have no idea why some of these sites do this unless it's to draw end users to the cheaper instruments.

As for quality... like has been said before, these are NOT Arri quality lights. They're great bang for the buck, but build, mirror and lens are much better in the Arri lights than the knock-offs. Use these until you can afford nicer lights and then move on up.
