Images from New Hubble Camera

[Mark Harris]

Back in May, I road-tripped to FL to see the launch of STS-125, the LAST Hubble servicing mission ever.

They just released the first pics from the upgraded Hubble.

Sad as I will be to see Hubble decommisioned, I cannot wait for the Webb to go up...It's going to orbit a lot further from Earth, out even beyond the orbit of the Moon.

The Hubble has already doubled its life "expectancy," so don't feel TOO bad.

Hubble and Webb are great for spectacular shots, but Kepler has a shot at finding other "Earths."

Perhaps extraterrestial Dvxusers out there...somewhere.

Well, the Webb is infra-red as well, and that and like the chandra X-Ray is where most of the real stuff happens.

But Hubble and the visible light images brought a whole generation into loving space. I remember as a kid, it was Voyager and Pioneer that returned the first up close shots of the Gas Giants, and viking landing on mars, that got me and my generation excited...
