Has anyone done business with Image West? I just saw an ad for their store in the latest DV magazine and they claim to have HMI lights for lower than normal prices! Seems like a lot of their lights are heavily discounted. Are these some legit lights?

They've been discussed here many times. I bet a SEARCH will get you results.
Just a small - but important - note: their "HMI" lights are in fact HID Metal Halide lights, which is NOT the same as the expensive HMI lights. Yes, they still work (see some posts about them), but there still is a HUGE difference in quality of light, and quality of construction, etc...
 
I've done business with them and they are a good company. I purchased 2 of the HMI lights the 800 and 2400 version and while they are inexpensive they work pretty well. I returned the 800 because a flicker issue and kept the 2400. The HMI is decent but by no means a joker or arri and 10 times more for them. The quality of light is soft and outputs in the 5000K color range. The 2400 is a good value is you shoot car dealers or lots of exteriors that require a nice key or fill.
Stan at imagewest is a good guy and cares about customer service.
 
i've used them and stan loves to ork with his customers.even though some products may be knock offs to big name companys they work great.
