Image Sequence

I have 110 pics, i have to play them back at 3 fps. But instead of just getting a slideshow i want the pictures to fade into each other. So i get a result of an animation.

Its basically bubbles that are expanding. So you see, the pictures have to fade into each other otherwise it looks like extremely poor stop motion

Does anyone have any tips on how to do this?

The way I've been doing it in 7 is File->Import->Media...and click a still image. There's a little box in the bottom left corner "Open Still Image Sequence".

Does Vegas 8 not have that now?

Go to PREFERENCES -> EDITING and change NEW STILL IMAGE LENGTH to whatever length you need.

(If you're importing a bunch of tiffs or pngs for an animation, you'll need to do a bit of math to figure out the exact timing to get one image per frame.)

Now just go to your folder with the images, sort them to be in the right order, then drag them to the timeline.

You can also set a "cut to overlap conversion" value (Under OPtions/Preferences/Editing) that will put a transition of the time specified between each image.

So for example, if you want 3fps with a transtion between each frame, you can set the new still image length (as mentioned by pmark23) to 0.396S (12 frames), and have a 0.066S (2 frames) overlap between them. On a 30 fps timeline, this will give you 3 fps. If you need a longer overlap, you need to increase the still image length accordingly to maintain the same 3 fps frame rate.

I downloaded Vegas Pro 80 pdf manual and typed in Image Sequence. Here's the quote.

1. Click the media import button in the Project Media Window. The Import Media dialog appears.
2. Choose the folder where the sequence you want to open is stored.
3. Select the first image in the sequence (or the image you want to start the event).
4. Select the Open still-image sequence box.
5. In the Range field, enter the number of the last image you want to open.
6. Click Open. The still image sequence is added to the Project Media window.

Jaeger i followed your instructions but got the same result.

Let me try to explain better what i want to do. I am aware of the import as image sequence. This is not the problem.

Hi soeberg. OK, try these settings and let me kow how it goes.

New still image length 0.65 seconds (19 frames)
Cut-to-overlap conversion 0.35 seconds (10 frames)
IMPORTANT Make sure "Automatically overlap multiple selected media when inserted" is checked.

Thank you jaeger, that did it.

How did you come up with those numbers? Its an interesting technique, might be trying it out on some timelapse work
