Image Flicker Problem

Re: Image Flicker Problem

i'm assuming by flicker you're referring to the moire pattern on the subject's silver vest? this is a result of fine detail, much like when people wear thin striped shirts or if you've ever looked at anything that has thin lines close together (see: http://www.mathematik.com/Moire/). anyway, the problem may even look worse on an interlaced monitor since any fine detail that appears in one scan line and not the other will flicker at 1/60th of a sec in NTSC land. one solution that may help your problem is choose the "flicker" filter from the effects menu under the video heading. this is used to get rid of interlace problems, but may not help the moire effect much. in this case what you may need to do is apply a SLIGHT gaussian blur. the trick is slightly blurring the footage just enough to get rid of the fine detail but not compromising the overall image quality too much.

Re: Image Flicker Problem

Yes, I did mean the pattern. The blur counters Moiré's assault. Thanks for the help and the excellent explanation!
