iMac Studio / Reference Monitor

Hey! The JBL LSR305 is on sale for $100/each at a bunch of places. That's $50 off regular price, and $100 off for a pair (<== For the mathematically challenged). I don't know if this is a Black Friday sale or if JBL has a replacement speaker coming out soon (what with NAMM not that far away). But even if there is an updated model coming out, this is a great deal.

I have a set of the Equator D8 coaxial near fields (among other large and small systems). Designed, built and sold direct by Ted Kaffalo (Event, prior to being sold to Rode). Direct sales makes them affordable .. around $600 usd for $1k+ sound. The imaging is impressive.

JBL has been sold, heard it on PBS. So those are probably old stock being dumped. What happens depends upon whether the company buying JBL wants to continue the business, or bought them to get rid of a competitor.

Samsung is buying Harman International for around $8 billion. JBL is a small part of Harman International. Also, the deal isn't scheduled to close for several months (like maybe mid 2017). And some but not all other JBL monitors are on sale. I still think this is just a regular sale of products that may (or may not) get replaced with newer products within a few months.

Regardless, that doesn't make these monitors any less of a good buy.
