ImAc Running FCP??

I plan on purchasing this computer to run FCP:
iMac, 17-inch, 1.83GHz Intel Core Duo
2GB 667 DDR2 SDRAM - 2x1GB
250GB Serial ATA drive
SuperDrive 8x (DVD+R DL/DVD+RW/CD-RW)
Keyboard & Mighty Mouse + Mac OS X - U.S. English
ATI Radeon X1600/128MB VRAM
Accessory kit

Do you think that FCP will run good on it? 2 gigs of ram is the most that you can get. I would love to purchase the G5, but my budget is somewhat constraint.

I will be editing short clips.. 5-15min max and no Hi-Def will be done at current time.

I would love your thoughts!

Andrei I just got the imac 2GHz 20 inch version... upgraded my pc at same time. Anyway it runs Final Cut Studio perfectly well. I cant image there would be too much diff. from the 1.83GHz. I also have 2gb ram. I specifically got the iMac for portability as I will capture direct to it.

I also set up 2 x 250gb (7200rpm) external hdd as raid. Works fine. Love the RT effects etc... man Im struggling but each day I move a bit closer. Ppro is nothing like this :S
 
Thanks, I appreciate that. I'm not sure if I will be getting an external hard drive right away, but will get one later on. I was told by people at a local television station to go with FCP over avid jsut because of my budget as well as a few other things.

I have the Intel iMac 20" and it runs faster than my G5 Dual 2.5 GHz in FCP. You will like it a lot. Get an external HD though, even if you have to make it yourself from an enclosure and a HD on sale at Fry's.

What exactly is that? Since the two of you have mentioned the 20inch iMac..I'm no considering that. It all depends on how much money I can make this summer. Maybe I can over charge a few people who I am doing projects for :Drogar-BigGrin(DBG) .
