Not sure if anyone posted this but today Apple released the iMac G5 at the Paris Apple Expo. It comes in three configurations with a 17 inch screen running at 1.6 and 1.8 GHz and a 20 inch model running a 1.8 Ghz G5. The 1.6 G5 17 inch goes for $1299, the 17 inch 1.8 G5 goes for $1499 and the 20 inch 1.8 G5 is $1899. I'm not too huge on the design of this one but the prices are better than the previous G4 iMacs.

Re: iMac G5 released

I like the idea of everything being in such a tiny package, I just thought the old iMac had so much more visual character compared with this one.

This one seems...uninspired.

no new laptops, i agree on the design it does seem uninspired. Apparently they are trying to capture the essence of the ipod in the imac form. I'd have to see one of these in person up close tom ake my decision whether i like it or not. It's a good sign thought toward the laptops, they were able to cram the g5 in a 2 inch deep enclsure, so we are getting closer to them being able to fit a g5 in the laptop and keep it cool.

Yeah, man! The design isn't that attractive as the old one. I own one of those old ones.

Anyway, all the best

Re: iMac G5 released

yeah, it's not the winner the G4 iMac was in terms of design, but it comes with a 17-inch widescreen display (or 20). Now in terms of technology and price, I have to say it's fantastic. It's a slightly overpriced display (The best of the world) that comes with a bonus computer (that, even better, is a Mac G5). For a home computer it's kickass.
