I'm working on a short film, preparing to shoot for the end of November. I'm looking for scene samples to show my DoP what I'm looking for. My character is trapped in this room, and I'd like to shoot some longer takes of the character exploring the room. I liked the longer takes and the way they held the frame in Drive. A couple examples in my short:
1. A window glistens with condensation in the light. A hand slowly appears, almost afraid of it, then rubs the moisture off.
2. A cement wall shines with moonlight as the camera slowly pushes in - BAM a pipe crashes into it.

Personally, I'm thinking of No Country for Old Men, had a lot of longer shots that felt believable. Not incredibly long shots, but this isn't a music video. Anything along these lines from the top of your head I could YouTube to share with my DoP? I appreciate any help, my movie memory isn't the greatest. I understand what shots I want, I just want to visually show him.

Try the film "Unbreakable." A good example of a Hollywood production in which most scenes are only one or two shots. You could also look at pretty much any Woody Allen film from the mid-seventies onward.

Touch of Evil. Not just the opening scene. There are a few scenes in that film that are one take with the camera moving back and forth into new shots. This apartment sene is a classic example, ten minutes with only 2 shots--

It's been some time since I've seen Barry Lyndon, but I seem to recall some pretty long takes in there. And the whole movie is quite visually impressive.

Death Sentence - Parking Garage scene (amazing)
Serenity - Opening sequence
The Protector - Staircase fight
Cloverfield (many long takes)
Elephant - school hallway scenes
Atonement - battlefield sequence
Children of Men - my favorite in the film is the early morning escape from the safe house
I Am Cuba - parade scene
Carlito's Way - Grand Central sequence
Oldboy - hammer in the hallway fight sequence
The Secret in Their Eyes - stadium chase (probably one of the best ones I've ever seen)

I could go on... I love extended\single\long takes..
