I'm impressed!

I always used to turn up my nose at Beachteks, and the like, but this weekend I had a chance to put my new 2A through it's paces. Using the little Panasonic SD-100 camera, and my Wendt mixer I took to the streets (as well as indoors), and the quality was astounding. I don't really know where I'm going with this. I think this is more of a declaration of love to Panasonic, Beachtrk, and Bob Wendt!

Can't your Wendt X3 mixer take the mic signal and send line level directly into the camera?

so you are not monitoring the actual camera audio?

Well I have an X4 so in order to put the line in and get the return I have to use the betacam breakaway. It does have the little mic out jack though.

I'm a big believer that the fewer devices in-line the better. I think you can eliminate the Beach from the equation with one of these.

The Wendt's outputs are adjustable to mic level. Send mic level from the mixer with the CAMCXY stereo XLR to mini adapter on the camera end of the breakaway to allow a direct connection to the camera's mic input jack.

I was thinking about doing something like that except with attenuator barrels, but I thought the Beachtek would be a more elegant solution. My X4 is really a PSC M4, so unlike the A+, and the current incarnation the M4 is line only. Sorry for the semantics I just call it that because most people recognize Wendt better.

LOL - with posts like yours it's important to be precise, otherwise you can really get steered in the wrong direction.
