Hello everyone im editing in fcp 5 on a g5.

im shooting with a dvx100a with an anamorphic lens adapter.

im shooting in f6 mode and capturing 2332 advanced pull down.

im editing in a sequence set to anamorphic and 23.98.

yet my footage has obvious interlaced lines every so many frames or when
theres alot of movement on screen even if its a still tripoded shot. please help.

thank you very much.

ok but can someone just make a clear and simple check list of the correct camera and
fcp setting for shooting 24pa.

Shoot 24pA... don't rely on the F6... MAKE SURE it is 24pA

Capture in FCP at DV/NTSC 2.3.3.2 advanced pulldown removal. (I've made my own that includes the Anamorphic option, but odn't worry about that.)

Sequence Apple-Zero... set frame rate to 23.98

All of that is in a sticky above.

yeah those are my settings. now u said dont rely on f6 so how can one veirfy its 24pa.

also i read about remove advanced pulldown under the tools menu to remove it from footage i have, but why isnt my captrue process doing that, i have it set like you said ealier. also when i do the remove advanced pulldown from the tools menu it says (this footage is not dvcpro pr dvcpro 50) and just wont do it.

thank you so much for your time.

What does it say in your information bars when you select it in the browser window of FCP... slide across until you see format and frame rate?

As for checking F6... turn on your display options in the menu.

OK...

IF you shot it at F6 24pA
IF you captured with the 2.3.3.2 preset at 29.97 (yes, you can't CAPTURE at 23.98)
IF your footage really says it's 23.98

Then you aren't seeing interlace lines. You are seeing something else.

Any way to post a screen shot of what you are seeing? Make sure your canvas window is set to 100%.

ok sorry i have been having internet problemes, its been down, lol just not a very good week, but i have the stills and so ill email them

im also having another issue, that may be related. i recently shot footage on a brand new tape and then captured it. in the capture scratch it added an -av-1 to the end of the name, for example, untitled1-av-1 and another one entitled the same but one it says it can not be opend because its not a movie file and the other is my raw footage. however when i import that raw footage into fcp it plays like every other fram with digital rainbow pixels that fill the screen sort of a digital rainbow snow. then it suddenly causes fcp to freeze and shut down. However if i play the raw file i can watch the whole thing without any snow. and i can watch it through the camera no snow. oh and none of my footage has the interlaced lines on the raw capture footage

oh and i just tried to get u a freeze frame of the digital snow but when i turned it into a reeze frame it transformed from digital snow into the actual frame. bizare

Nick nick nick nick....

Oh what a tangled web we weave...

Ok... here's what I need (NEED) you to do. LOOK EXACTLY where I'm pointing in this shot at the VIDEO clip and tell me what YOURS says...

I believe you shot in 24p... interlaced (combined) frames on 4 and 5 of five frames is 3.2 cadence and NOT 2.3.3.2.

IF indeed, the clip in your browser says 23.98 then you captured at that frame rate. BAD idea and your video is junk.

Do this also...

frame thru each frame from ;00 to ;00 and count EACH frame. Did you come up with 30? Did you come up with 24 yet FCP still came up with 30??? (Trust me... it will happen!!)
