I'm buying my first Camera and I need help deciding.

screw cameras.... buy lights!

Best Response I've seen...

Please don't buy the Canon, you'll be dealing with HDV... holy compression... I would put this camera in the same category as DV Tape. Go tapeless and don't look back. Have you seen that P2 cards have dropped by nearly 60% in price this month. Can't afford P2? You can't afford not to afford P2.

Buy and HPX170 or a HVX200a of and HVX200 used for that matter... You will not regret it. Just look up on http://imdb.com how many movies, documentaries and shorts have been made with the HVX200 and then look up how many movies are made on the Canon. The Panasonic cameras used with good lighting will out perform the Canon. Oh... and by the way HMC-150 full raster AVCHD... come on...

In your price range, the XH-A1 with a good set of sticks and a (relatively) nice fluid head sounds like the best choice. Nothing wrong with tape.
