Beware: this is really off-topic.

I consider myself a semi-logical thinker when it comes to cinematography and performing illusions since I do both for a living. However, this video completely blew me away. I thought of about 10 ways to do this but they still couldn't match it. If anyone has a clue about what's going on here, please fill me in. I thought of blue/green screen but what I'm confused about is the fact that the shadows look legit and the bottom of the box is seen (more than once).

One last thing....please don't hate me for posting this. :-P

You could easily do that with a travelling bezier mask that you update for each frame. It'd be quite a bit of work, but the results would be pretty good, and you could stump people on the Internet with it! :)

Just shoot a clean background plate behind the shot, and then go in and update the mask so that it cuts out the guy's body, leaving just the bottom of the box -- and have the "clean" background show through.

Yeah, I give them more props if the shot was moving.. That was done with Commotion Pro and the bottom of the box was tracked and composited later. :)

Thanks guys. At least I'm not the only one that was slightly impressed here. :-P I had been wondering if he had motion tracked/added the bottom of the box later. I just figured he did do that, he had a lot of free time. Thanks again.
