ILM. 'Nuff said.

Let's face it... the FX are amazing... ILM rocks!

I wish the whole transformers franchise had been more inspired-by... and less true-to... the original transformers series.

The shots look so cool... but as soon as I see a giant robot tip-toeing around a back yard and whispering like a little kid that doesn't want to get caught by mom and dad... I'm totally checked out. I wish they could have come up with a reason to avoid overly human personalities. If they had the story logic and direction of The Iron Giant... and applied THAT to the Transformers franchise? Even just a few introductory scenes to somehow justify accents and specific humanly ETHNIC personalities... (think JAZZ... the ghetto-slang one? LOL. Wait what?)... plus million year old machines that change into specific model year vehicles? If there was a scene like the one in South Park where the kids finally settle on a talking taco that poops ice-cream... anything that says "yes, let's go with that... and let's go with that voice"... would have made the franchise a lot more enjoyable (for me).

Call me old, but at a certain point things just get too damn busy. How am I supposed to care what's happening when i don't even know what to look at? I watched Barry Lyndon on blu-ray recently, and I was more riveted by any of Kubrick's "boring", nearly motionless shots in that film, than any of the exploding nonsense on display here.
