Illusion of Flooded Room

Hey, I was wondering if anyone might have some tips on making a small living room look as though it were underwater. The shot will be parallel with the wall.. and the camera will be looking through the water. Not down on the water or up on the water. It would be a dolly from a tight close up to a wide reveal of the room. Initially, I thought you could see the water line rather than the entire thing being submersed.

I've already looked at Psunami (Digital Anarchy) but their stuff seems to be primarily above and looking directly at water. I already plan to shoot small items in a fish tank of water against green to get the buoyancy and key them into the scene.

We'll use a displacement map on the entire shot. Also, we just tried using fractal noise (and some other parameters) as an alpha to give some movement of light and dark spots over the footage.

I'm hesitant to tint everything blue simply because of the payoff asspect. We'll probably generate some bubbles and depth.

Has anyone had experience doing this? Or would you be able to add some insight as well "try this"? I know that there are tons of AE Guru's on here and I certainly would appreciate the help.

Also, the prospect of flooding a room and just shooting through glass also popped in my head but its not really practical.

Thank you so much!
Matthew

Have you thought about using minitures?

you could build a replica set, and then just composit your actors in.

// EDIT:

all you would need is a fish tank, and well modelling skills
