I'll see your 4K and up you to 8K.

I don't know.. I'm going to call 8K right here right now "ZITS-A-Vision". But I posted the link because when the so called FS700 hits, the narrative will just turn to 8K, then 16k, and so on. Part of what I like about HD or 2K is the separation of reality. To further separate me from the everyday hustle and bustle of high def life. 4K is plenty, 2K is plenty. "ZITS-A-Vision", maybe for watching weekend golf so I can read the green from home.

OK we're going to have to agree to disagree... do you call a nice big fine art print from a medium format still a "ZITS-a-Pic"?

The best common ground I can find with you that good 4K should be enough. Certainly 4K 48fps stereo is plenty for me for the next decade or so! But to make really good 4K you want to shoot on a camera that is marketed to resolve considerably higher... just the reality of life methinks.

LOL, maybe. I started my career on 8x10 view cameras. 300mm 5.6 glass for a normal view. 450mm for a short tele. If I could relate that to digital motion, that would be off the top of my head like 1000k res. Lot's easier however to retouch a 1/400th of a second single frame that it is to 5 minutes of 24 frames. A single photograph, if it holds the attention of the viewer for 3 seconds, you did your job. 5 Minutes of Mrs. Diaz without makeup in 4 or 8K? Career over, and DOP fired.

ERrrrr.... honestly guys, 4K and 8K really isn't that much different to looking at things in 2K. Heck, watching IMAX films isn't that different to me than watching Planet Earth on the bluray.

It's like looking at the difference between taking a still and then video. Sure, 8K would obviously be more detailed, but it's also more noisy too and the lens and lighting have limits soooooooo... depends how close one wants to sit near the display / projected screen / person in the end innit?

ha @ actors worried about dust or bits in their hair. I sure as hell wouldn't really notice any dandruff 6 feet away from them, so unless the shot is an extreme close-up they're safe...
