IKEA China Balls

Just wanted to throw this out there:

IKEA has some really cool China balls and accompanying light sockets. The sockets are rated at 75W max, but if you use screw in fluorescents, you can have more light output at an even lower wattage.

The IKEA in Burbank, CA has 4 sizes. :thumbup:

any idea where to find cool white / daylight fluorescent bulbs that go up to 75 watts? I currently have some but i think they are rated at 23 watts. grr, want more

filmtools.com has some really cheap china lanterns in all different sizes as well as the proper temperature bulbs to go with them. :thumbsup:

and if you really want to get fancy, take a look at the special stand fixtures. pretty pimp! I love film tools...

I definitely saw Daylight balanced screw-in fluorescents at Home Depot.

This maker has tungsten balanced, daylight balanced, and something in-between. I actually bought a 150W rated flo, tungsten balanced.

I have to say, I the China Balls are similarly priced at Filmtools as they are at Ikea, but the internal wiring is probably a lot better than Ikea's.....:costumed-smiley-047
