If this was a stunt

Not really sure why so many people think this is a stunt. It's like we can't believe anything anymore.

If it was a stunt, i'm not sure if I should be impressed or horrified.

I know it's silly, but when I find out things like this are just stunts, it upsets me. Basically you can't believe anything anymore, as it could always just be a calculated attempt to go viral. People will get to a place where they will just assume any cool thing is fake.

Brian Moylan agrees with you. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/jimmy-kimmels-twerk-fail-hoax-625452

Personally stopped believing the internet a long time ago, because honestly, it's like believing reality TV. There might be some things you'll find that are legit, but for the most part, it's a billion people who want their fifteen seconds of fame, and like the Kardashians, they'll do any damn thing to get it. This, however, I think is a fun stunt by Jimmy Kimmel Live, and shows that someone with a bit of savvy and a good understanding of internet trends can make the viral thing work as something more than the fluke-by-fluke system it currently operates as.

Well I think Jimmy Kimmel, while he seems to be just having fun, is trying to make a point. Too many people take the internet at face value, and believe most of what they see. Worse of all they just see a quick post on facebook and it becomes fact to them, even if they don't read the full article.

Common hoaxes still fool people over and over again. Every year the 'supermoon' hoax fools people all the time, where they believe the moon would get so massive that if it were ACTUALLY that size, it would be plummeting to the earth and causing tsunamis all around the world. Yet people still believe it.

I'm always skeptical about everything on the internet.
