If Luc Besson had Directed "Revenge of the Sith"

i went to them all and i didnt like any of them i kept saying well maybe this one will be good. :-/ it never happened.

Same here.

Bad filmmaking. Neither of the new ones have staying power in my eyes; I've seen em once.......

I still pop in any of the first 3 from time to time.

I blame Lucas' gentle nature. Imagine if Ridley Scott directed the prequels in the tone of Bladerunner. No Jar Jar with Scott directing, no kid-friendly humor. Just dark and nasty and REAL. I agree with John that the end of the real SW was with ROTJ. I was so sad when I saw the ewoks, li'l people in bear costumes, how lame. SW died at that moment for me and never was resurrected. Empire is the best IMO. If SW kept that Empire tone throughout (and got rid of all the stupid, bland dialogue of the prequels and trashed most of the green screen and cgi) it would have been amazing.

All it needed to do was keep the style and tone of the first ten minutes of Episode I . . . right up until the "run like little girls" scene.

I'm going to be battered black and blue for what I'm about to say but I'm going to say it anyway. I LIKE the prequel trilogy. Too many people try and compare them to the Original Trilogy which is why most people hate them (plus the dialoge etc). I don't compare them to the Originals because you can't. They're 2 different sets of movies and you can't compare them as if they are the same. Anyway there is my two cents. I'm ready for my beating lol

i dont compare them i just see them as bad movie made today making money when better came out.

i'm not saying the prequels are the greatest movies ever but i do like them. personally though i dont go see a star wars movie for the dialogue.... maybe thats just me... i go to see it because its star wars. anyway just to reiterate i like the prequels and im not saying theyre perfect cause i know they're not.

i feel like there were more science and politics during that time far far away then suddenly the future is much more powerful dramatically.

The really sad thing is that you can't even find the original un-doctored widescreen copies of episode 4-6 anymore (certainly not on DVD since they never released them). Director's cuts are one thing, but why make the old ones unavailable? I would like to re-live my childhood once in a while and see the movies as I remembered them.
I'm so glad that other directors generally don't re-invent their movies years later and change them all around (leave that to the damn remakes). Lucas' trend on these movies stinks like Ted Turner's colorization period. Thank goodness they never "fixed" The Birds with millions of CGI crows or gulls. What's wrong with leaving a film alone with all of it's shortcomings? That's what future projects are for; to try and make things better if you have the time and budget.

I think it makes the films more impressive to see them as they were made and to marvel at what the filmmakers were able to accomplish at the time they were made.

Here here! - Agree 100%

I can't go back and make that prom date "go better" so they should not go back and try to make a movie better...

Don't laugh...that poo poo was pulled with the E.T. 20th anniversary disk. Luckily unlike Lucas, Spielberg gives the viewer the choice of watching the original version (which, by the way, is all I let my kids watch.)

EDIT: David beat me to the punch.

They should add like M1 Tanks and Huey Gunships into the E.T. scene and they're firing on the kids as they go into the sky and E.T. gives the Spooks the bird; and then Will Smith can fly down in a jet and say 'Oh I know you didnt just do that!'

I have vision

You are firm but very wise father :)
I'm a hardass about it.
Once the wife put in the "updated version" in by mistake...
and when I saw that horrible horrible cg rendition of E.T. in the
bathtub appear onscreen I nearly launched myself across the
room to eject the disk before it could taint their young impressionable
eyes.

Don't be intimidated by these guys...if you liked Sith...you like it. Most sane people did.

One issue I have with the new Star Wars is that the new characters arn't charismatic or appealing, or intimidating, but are really quiet plain and lacking in personality.

Han Solo and Princess Leah had attitude and spunk
Darth Vader was one of the most intimidating villans ever

Not to mention Luke, Chewy, Yoda, etc. So many great characters, and all captivating characters that draw you in, and you love to watch.

The new characters lacked any real appeal, and just didn't measure up to their predecessors.

As for the old Star Wars films, they were revolutionary for their time and I still thoroughly enjoy them to this day (maybe except for the Ewoks)
