If I'm cropping and zooming in a lot, should I transfer files as Pro Res HQ?

I'm working on a project and all the files I ingested are Pro Res (just plain pro res. neither HQ nor proxy). That said, I'm doing a lot of cropping and zooming in. Will everything look better when i zoom in if the footage is Pro Res HQ? I know normally it makes no difference. But I'm wondering if the cropping and zooming changes the answer here.

Without knowing what you started with, I'd say probably not. What you started with will not improve by moving to a better codec. If you start with a quart of milk & pour it into a gallon jug, it's still only 1 quart of milk.

Now it's worth pointing out that if your original material is 4k raw or better then, yes, you should use ProRes HQ. If it's some form or AVCHD, then you probably wouldn't even see the difference on an IMAX screen.
