If I buy a wirless Senny G3 kit for Seattle Range, can I use it in CA for a wedding?

I know you need to buy the particular frequency range for your location, and I'm wondering if I should just rent some wireless lavs/receivers, or if I buy them for an investment if they can work in other areas of the country as well?
