I sent this simple request to IDX recently--
"A few months ago I purchased one of your IDX X3 LED Lights.
very shorlty after I noticed on the web, that you had made an improved 50Watt version The X5.
Can I upgrade my X3 to a X5 by putting a X5 globe into my X3 light casing?.
If I can buy the globe alone, please advise if that's possible, or, can I swap this X3 over ?."
The reply from IDX was --
"Dear Sir,
Unfortunately it is impossible to upgrade X3-Lite with X-5-Lite, because IDX does not sell the globe alone.
IDX cannot swap your X3-Lite. Please contact to the place where you purchased it.

SO, anyone buying these LED's should be aware that if the LED goes, it's all over for the whole unit. in the bin with it.. be it the X3 or the later X5 light, a very expensive exercise indeed.
Next on-cam light I buy will have to have a servicable globe or I'll buy another brand.
