Yeah, so... About a year ago, my wife got an unauthorized draft on her account. Luckily (at least in this circumstance) she didn't have any money in there, so she just got hit with an nsf fee. We filed a police report, but of course they didn't do anything. They didn't even take our number or address so they could contact us. Well... this pissed me the hell off, so I started researching like crazy. Over the course of about two weeks I was able to find out the name and address of the f* bag who tried to steal my wife's money. Also got a satellite image (google earth) of his house and the demographic and socioeconomic breakdown of his neighborhood. The name of his EX-wife, including her maiden name, address, telephone number, when they were married and divorced, etc. And found out that he had (at the time of my research) registered 54 (bogus) companies. which cost a couple of dollars to do online in his state. Some of which were posing as State and National Banks, State and National Credit Bureaus, and even one called Social Security Administration. Now I am no expert, but I believe that crosses the line into federal crime when you are posing as state and federal entities. Could I get anyone to do anything about it? NOOOO, of course not. Call the locals, they say call the state. Call the state, they say its this persons jurisdiction and so on. Contact the local sheriffs office in his jurisdiction, and they "are definitely going to get back with me" and "can I fax the information?" Did I hear from them noooo. Anyone in colorado wanna take care of some business for me ??
just kidding.... sort of.
All I have to say is, identity thieves and check fraud is costing the government billions of dollars a year. They can easily locate and prosecute these people by spending a fraction of that money to put in place the manpower and resources to do so. As a result, how many billions of dollars would they save each year? anyways, that's my rant
