I'd like to compile a FAQ sort of list

helpful info for all the newbies. If you've found a post here on DVXUser that you've found to be invaluable on a particular subject, Post a link to it here with a brief description of the subject matter. This is for DVXUser forum links, not outside references.

Here's my first:

Polarizer filters

Keep it brief, clear and simple so others can scan and find the subject matter quickly. I hope this grows to be a great resource page for everyone.

What you're talking about is essentially manually indexing all the non-cafe content of DVXUser--an impossible task that's been tried before. The thread will quickly turn into a disorganized mess or more than likely, you'll get 8 or 9 posts and the thread will die. Many topics have multiple threads, futher complicating things. We have a great workable search function, so if you want to create a useful FAQ, why not write something on the follow themes---

USE THE ADVANCED SEARCH FUNCTION TO FIND CONTENT
We've got a ton of archived posts that cover every imagineable subject. Most likely, someone has already asked the question you have. So try a search and experiment with different keywords.

USE DESCRIPTIVE SUBJECT TITLES WHEN YOU POST
When someones's search turns up "Hey, a cool idea!", it's not nearly as helpful as "DIY Matte Box for under $100". So use a good descriptive title on your post to help the next person.

CONTRIBUTE WHAT YOU LEARN
If you try a new piece of gear or figure out a new trick or make a mistake--post and let us know about it. We all benefit from each other's experiences. That's why posting your mistakes is so valuable--it could prevent 100 other filmmakers from making the same screwup.

Barry - I understand where you are coming from. Just thought it might work. My example above is a good example. Let's say you need info on Polarizer filters, Do a search for "polarizer filters" and you'll find 141 links. The one I linked to above (#26 of 141) in my opinion is the best on the subject. I was hoping to gather a bunch of links like this and compile as a group of "favorites" or "bookmarks" for anyone interested.
I see where you are coming from though..

Hey Doggy,

I was just admiring your banner. How do you get animation in a jpg? I thought you can only do it with gifs. That would be a good FAQ, so how about sharing the answer with us?

It is a gif. Weird thing about pbase, the photo server that I use, you have to add the .jpg extension to ANY file in order to post it into another site even though the original file is a .gif file.

I have a question for your FAQ list .

My FAQ list has a rattle.

Or is it a clunk.

PLEASEEEE HELP MEEEEE. I think my FAQ list is broken.....

Yeah, but, "Let me get this straight", I can't record the FAQ to mini-DV, right?

FAQs are too expensive!!
