iBook + FCE = ???

I already have Adobe Premiere Pro on my PC, but I've been thinking of picking up a Mac recently for a secondary editing machine or for doing smaller projects. I'm considering something like an iBook G4 or a Mac Mini as I like the portability. And since I already have a fully capable NLE on my PC, I'm thinking that Final Cut Express would probably do the job for me. I tried iMovie and found it to be just a bit too slow and limiting.

Anyway, just wondering if any of you could share some insight into my choices I'd appreciate it. Pros, cons and whatnot. I really like the idea of being able to take the iBook anywhere, open it up and go. And who doesn't like having a computer they can take anywhere? But on the other hand, if the Mac Mini can handle the processing and whatnot I wouldn't mind saving the extra cash. Then there's always the idea of waiting until the iBooks have the Intel chips sometime this year. And of course, I hear FCE won't edit 24p (which I intend to do a lot of with my DVX-100B) I don't know. Thanks guys.

i would reccomend researching the new macbook pro's with the intel chip because rendering on an ibook would certainly make me wanna climb a clocktower and start shooting

What if it were an iBook with 1.5 Gigs of RAM? And is it possible to upgrade an iBook's video memory myself?

And how do you think a Mac Mini would fare?

An iBook would only be useful for smaller projects and nothing that had time-sensitive rendering. If you are patient it will be fine, if you have deadlines, get a Powerbook.
A Mini about the same - the Mini is pretty much an iBook that needs to stay plugged in.

The Intel chips may make a difference, but you still will be dealing with slow drives, slow RAM and slow video. And there's no way to upgrade the video on either the iBook or the Mini (or a Powerbook or iMac for that matter).
