i7 2600k Fast enough to run MB looks in full res in real time with raw 5D files?

Hi, this is my first post in the forum~

my system is doing okay with most 1080p tasks, a Q9450 @ 3.54, 8GB DDR1066 GTS450 CUID enabled,
one 5D raw track playback at full resolution takes up 45 to 60% of CPU with CUID enabled. one MB looks at full res can easily cripple CPU. i can only playback at 1/4 and still choppy even though have 20~30 % of cpu left.

I however would like to run CPU only plugins in realtime full resolution especially with magic bullet looks or Colorista and with Mercalli ruining at all time without rendering
so ya i'm looking to upgrade if i7 is fast enough for that...

any one shoot 5D or GH2 videos upgraded or been using i7 CPU, or the newer i7 2600k with Premiere and various CPU only plugins in real time?

can anyone run neatvideo or other denoise plugins on 1080p in realtime?

Both Looks and Colorista are rendered using OpenGL on the GPU, so a new CPU won't help them run much better. It will improve overall playback of those clips, however, so it's still worth the upgrade.

If you want better performance with MB plug-ins, you'll need a better graphics card as well. However, even with the best graphics card out there, it may be unrealistic to expect real time performance out of Looks with that media, depending on the complexity of the Look.

I'm not familiar with Mercalli, so I can't comment on it's performance.

The 2600k is the best value on the market at the moment but it's not going to give you buttery smooth h.264....if you want that, I'd recommend a dual 6-core Xeon with a Quadro card. Of course, this setup would cost ~$6000.

hi thank you for the reply
MB look and all plugins do use GPU but at most 10 to 20% of the GPU on my gts450
with all the other plugins and three tracks of video at the same time, i can never go over 70% of the GPU and still 20~30 % of CPU left i still get kind of choppy playback at 1/4 res
