I was wondering...

Just a question on the side, while I am capturing my footage. Sometimes I am still shooting DV (jaja). It happens a few times that I am capturing the footage and FCP says that a frame was dropped and nothing got captured. So I am wondering what happens in this situation. Because I have been capturing for half an hour, so something has to be saved/captured somewhere. Where does it go? Or is nothing captured at all?

Cheers Niels

Check your capture scratch folder. Also, in your user preferences, you can tell FCP what to do when it detects a dropped frame (abort capture, make new clip, warn after)

It's not in the capture scratch folder. It's probably set on abort capture. But even when it's aborted, there should be some left overs of the capture process somewhere?

Abort capture on dropped frames: "When this option is selected, capture stops immediately when a dropped frame is detected. All media captured before the dropped frame has frame-accurate timecode and is preserved. The resulting media file is saved and a clip for that media file is placed in the Browser."

Perhaps it's a hardware issue with the AJA and a preference through that?
