I was wondering if...

Mike Krumlauf

Award Winning Filmmaker
Anyone on this thread had the pleasure of working with/for the late filmmaker John Hughes? Always fun to hear stories as he is my all time favorite filmmaker and honestly the ONLY true Chicago filmmaker (given he shot all his filmed he directed there and lived there as well). Not to say there are not many great filmmakers FROM chicago like Michael Mann, John Landis, Andrew Davis, Haxel Wexler and so on...

I grew up in the area where most of his films were shot so his films had a special meaning to me growing up. There was a documentary called Don’t You Forget About Me about some filmmakers trying to get an interview with him, and they interview a lot of the actors and people who knew him well.

Yeah, i grew up in Naperville which was southwest suburbs.. i was a good 30min drive from the north shore depending on traffic so i totally understand the special meaning. Its part of why i love hughes as much as i do.. if you grew up as a teenager in the chicagoland area his films had a double dose of reality slapped on them. Fall time in the north shore was my favorite.. the leaves changing on sheridan road in that heavily wooded area of winettka was one of my favorite places.
