This is an idea I have had for a while now. I want to put together a team of specialized actors to associate with my business. I would provide the necessary training for them, and I would hand pick them (have quite a number in mind already, and have spoken to them and started training with them).

But I do not want to be a casting agent/director. These would just be people I can call on for when I am contacted by a production that needs these people for their film. Basically, they would be in my "book". And if needed, I could provide my book to the casting director.

Any issues? Pay would be totally on the responsibility of the production company, if there is any (I focus on Indies and student films). I would be just a referral, albeit these are my handpicked trained people.

Are you saying you want actors to work as crew or just a crew of actors that act? Not saying that actors can't run sound, DP, LD, grip or best boy, but that just comes to mind....
 
Good point. I am putting together a group of specialized actors to act. I am just concerned about not being considered an agent, which I am not. These actors would be in my book, receive specialized training from me, and whenever I was approached for these types of actors/actresses, I would open my book for them to pick the ones they needed. If there is pay involved, that would be handled between the actor and the production company, although I would try to get them the best rate. But there would be no "fee" or commission involved for me. They are just another service my company can provide, I would continue to make my money off of the rentals and other services (stunt coordinator, technical advisor, set armorer)

Just trying to make my company a full service company.
 
I am not trying to recruit here. I have a pool of individuals already eyed out and have spoken informally with them. And they are on board with my idea. I just want opinions from another point of view. Hence, no details on what exactly I am doing.
