I was shooting in a foreign country today. Neon lights indoors. I needed to go 1/50th shutter speed to get rid of flicker. I went into camera and turned Syncro Scan to 1/50th. Is that the way to do it? How can I tell if the Syncro Scan is actually activated?
If you're shooting 25p, 50i, 24p, or 30p, just turn the shutter to "shutter off" and it'll be set to 1/50th.
If you're shooting 60i, you don't want to be using 1/50th, that'll totally screw up your footage.
As for setting the syncro scan, you have to use the shutter buttons to change your shutter speed to the syncro scan speed, which you'll find after 1/2000 but before 1/24 (or 1/25).
