Those are some very serious set ups. Help me out on the top pic though... Where is the camera position? What is the focus of the shot?

I have never seen a white cyc shot on a WFM... I like the bottom shot, very interesting. Was the lighting graduation in the white cyc done with lighting or filtration?

Help us understand the scenario, I see lots of flagging going on, just not sure of the purpose without an explanation. Nice gear though, I appreciate a setup geared for light control, a man after my own heart. This is what Dping a shoot is all about, I wish more folks would spend the necessary time and effort lighting their scenes. I can't begin to tell you how tired i am of people posting vids, and only using available light with no real motivation behind it.

A lighting thread, cool. Thanks for posting this Paul, yep if you can explain your setup etc, I for one will be grateful thanks.

Cheers.

Always a very tough gig shooting a car in situ ...interior.

My sympathy but best wishes Paul.

The first shot is in a dealership. The overhead is a 12X12 Ultra Bounce. Into it were bounced a 2.5 and 1.2 HMI par. The flags are to control spill and any specula hot spots on the car. The background was lit with a 4K HMI par. Two additional 575 HMI pars were used to light the talent. These were aimed through 4X4 opal and more flags applied to control spill. Finally 4 4X8 sheets os foam core were used as side fill.

The Cyc was lit with a 20X10 Chimera with 10K of tungsten. Additionally two space lights were used for cyc fill. We let it roll off and the edges for effect.

Here are more photos from the shoot.

Whats going on with the doorway dolly thier Paul? I cant tell from the pic, it does look to have a few large rails coming up off in an angle and into the hatch back.

Nice thread, thanks for sharing. Lighting cars isn't easy, because they're usually big polished shiny surfaces which reflect the light sources quite distractingly.

I once shot Cobras in Carroll Shelby's factory, and the one we spent the most time on was 100% polished chrome. Seriously, the whole car was one great big mirror! That was a fun task...

The camera RED Epic is mounted on the very end to get a shot dollying out and through the interior.

Very impressive rigging for the dolly work. Did you go with the speed rail setup for stability over simply putting a 6-8" jib on the dolly, or was there another reason?
