I think my website has virus/spyware on it?

I've gotten rid of viruses before on my computer but never on my actual website. I think its because some of my pages aren't finished and somehow they got hacked?

Anyhow a visitor sent me a email and said "I have visited your website and my virusscanner have found a virus. 'JS/Agent.1366' [virus]"

By the way I have bluehost for my host. I suppose I should call their tech support.

thanks
Josh

Or it could be someon phishing. Did they have a link or anything in their email. I have had people email me about some of my domains telling me I have innacurate Whois info. Gut feeling says it is someone phishing. (especially if the email had that precise phrasing.

It was actually a private message on a forum I got but yeah that is what he said. Hmm whats phising lol?

thanks for the response.

Phishing is when they send you a fake message and try to get you to go to a website -- in this case, one that supposedly contains an antivirus program.

I get these kinds of emails all the time. Haven't heard of it being done by PM in a forum, but it wouldn't surprise me a bit.

It doesn't have a virus. Your "404" page is apparently set to the antivirus site that was mentioned. That's the way the web hosting company set up your missing page message. See if you can set up a different "404" missing page.

its very common to get a website hacked if you dont know how to protect yourself. One way to avoid these problems is to make your website purely html based with no script languages, which your site seems to be. I advise anybody to get a mac for doing internet ( even though also those are hackable) their small market share is a sort of safety for the moment. It may change in the future but 99.9% of the exploits today are windows based. You may still fall for a phishing mail/message, if you dont know the term please google it!!!!!!!

Scripting language use makes absolutely no difference. When a site uses a database (for whatever reason) is when you would possibly run into trouble. But when your page just has Javascript? No.
