I think it's safe to say we're not alone in the universe.

...So we may be alone in this current timeframe, but I'd doubt very highly we are the first. And it's almost a moot point. We'll never be able to tell. We'll only be able to speculate. Unless someone or something pays us a visit.

Well, I think it is possible that were are the first. I really have no need to defend that other than what already has been stated. It's a possiblilty that someone has to be first and we could be them. And I have stated this opinion before, around 6 months ago.

I'm not saying it's probable, I'm saying it's possible. And I've yet to be convinced otherwise.

//And yeah, it's kind of moot. I hope we find life on another planet, even bacteria. So far, that hasn't happened.

//So, I guess it's not 'that' easy for life to form on any given planet. I hope we find some though.

//And if that's not entertaining enough, check out the first 1:30 of this video, and the rest of if you like.

'Sall I'm sayin'. The universe had a beginning, therefore someone has to be first; we can't rule out that we are that first no matter what "seems" likely, or what we'd prefer to think.

So our universe may be finite, but that doesn't mean that all of space is. At some point there is an edge to our universe, and beyond that what exists? Since space is infinite, everything exists. If there is an infiniste amount of space, there are an infinite amount of possibilities for what could and do exist. There are an infinite amount of other universes exactly like ours, even with us in them (or people exactly like us) and an infinite number that are entirely different. The only rules dictating what is possible are physics based.

Also consider that our universe is expanding.
What will happen when it stops expanding? It will contract in on itself. And when it fully comes together,
It will create another big bang. Everything will start over, and probably differently, but because this has been happening for an infinite amount of time, what we are living has happened before.

"Infinity" causes too many problems for us to be the first an only

Earth like planets ...

I think to consider we are alone and there is no other life out there is narrow minded. The world is not flat.

Ellie Arroway: You wanna hear something really nutty? I heard of a couple guys who wanna build something called an "airplane," you know you get people to go in, and fly around like birds, it's ridiculous, right? And what about breaking the sound barrier, or rockets to the moon, or atomic energy, or a mission to Mars? Science fiction, right? Look, all I'm asking, is for you to just have the tiniest bit of vision. You know, to just sit back for one minute and look at the big picture. To take a chance on something that just might end up being the most profoundly impactful moment for humanity, for the history... of history.

Space isn't infinite.

No one's saying there couldn't possibly be, John.

Space isn't infinite.

Considering the universe is all that's known to exist as a result of the Big Bang, then yes I suppose it isn't infinite, but space is just that--empty space. That empty space of nothing is infinite and also non-existent. So I'm talking about this nothingness that exists (or doesn't) beyond our universe caused by our Big Bang. Can't really say only one universe can spawn from infinite nothingness.

But it's not infinite. It's not "empty." There's an actual physical limit to space, as well as a shape. This is all Einsteinian relativity.

This is all Einsteinian relativity.

Again I say....
