'I still' Music video directed by Matt Mcdermitt

i liked it.... even though it's the backstreet boys

i liked the whole speed up and slow down thing, pretty cool

happy for matt though... people like him makes me want to work harder

I'm sure the video impressed the big wigs, so he'll definately get more gigs, which will lead to better type of music and more freedom in what he wants to do... along with a **** load of money for a 19 year old

I don't really think there was a white castle incident, other than we were starving and lost and we found a white castle and said "hey, they're famous, let's go there."

Oh. My. Gosh.

It was so nasty. Jarred couldn't resist taking some shots of the white castle burger, it was almost hypnotic in its pure nastiness. It was just so ultimately horrid, with this nacho "cheez" sauce on it. One day I asked Jan what the big deal was with white castle, seeing as she lives in Jersey, and she said something like "yeah? what about 'em?" and I said "they're NASTY." And she said "well, of course you don't EAT 'em..."

So if Jarred has something compromising on video about the white castle visit, I don't remember what it was, other than just the overwhelming repugnance of it. I don't remember there being any "harold & kumar" type moments there...

eh, I didn't like it! Same sh*t I see all the time on MTV! Don't matter what I say, that kid is making freaking money and is on his way! I still believe 90% of MTV music videos sucks ass!

It doesn't matter if he's young if we seen the video before we knew he directed it, we wouldn't say 'oh look at the shot he's defintenly 19' 'look at that dolly shot' his birthday is coming soon!

I liked his work before he made it and now! I just was expecting something outrageous! I think the producers would only allow him so much freedom.

I'm waiting to see that new anna nalick video!

backstreet shmackstreet the video was pretty good. probably wont be one of his best videos but an incredible first video for big celebirtys! i love watching matt mcdermitt grow thats why i come to this site! the linkdidnt work so i did a big search and also found a clip where backstreet boys talk about the video and other stuff like the cd and tour so i made screen grabs for everyone and you can see him in the video its so cool. i like matts uninvited video and this felt like it was from the same world which i loved it had great performances in the video.

(sorry had to get that out)

matts the guy who that infamous 30 something page post was about when he came out with his first video shot on the dvx that blew people away.before his email stopped working he told me he was re-shooting free your mind on the hvx200 with a revised concept which i want to ask him if hes still doing.

is the backstreet video airing in france taryllou?

It's good work. It looks like Matt was holding back. Definitely a more conservative video. It's a pretty assured music video debut and he was probably playing it safe. I'd shoot a Backstreet video any day of the week. Not that there's anything wrong with that. :)

it looks nice. i wonder who the dp was.

i wish the concept wasnt so subtle...i liked the shot of the girl getting out of the cab and when the camera booms up she isnt there...clever...wish there was more of that kind of stuff.

one backstreet boys video that it pretty hot is "the call", you guys should check that out...some cool stuff there.

anyway, well done Matt, keep'em comin!

Wow the hate is incredible. You guys do know that like 85% of the time they ain't gonna let the director just do whatever he wants on a "big" video. Little X just left that same company in the Spring b/c of that fact, very little control. He's been doing booty videos for like 7 years strong and it was driving him crazy that no labels would let him be even more creative but rather were giving him the old "make it look like that one" line. Matt's gonna be fine. He's going against legends right now, so give him room to breathe before y'all get all nitpicky. I think we'd all like the same consideration when we get to that level.

Fam if you can't see that, what can I say? You in the biz so you know whatz what. Matter of fact I just qouted you with a cosign in the other thread on this topic. So which way you really feel? You defending and criticizing at the same time? Remember the song "Dirty Laundry"?

i just read the thread over again...where is the hate you say is so incredible? most of the posts complimented the video in some way or another...and gave Matt credit for getting where he is. btw, not everyone is going to like the video. its the same with movies...everyone has different tastes.

i just dont see "hate" in these posts. dont take that as an attack please...im just not seeing where your coming from.

(this is not directed at you timekoder ) but, Matt is gifted, young or old or a transvestite...getting to the point of directing a video like this for a major artist is a big deal for anyone of any age. directing videos is not about making cool **** for artists you like or think are cool...imagine wedding video guys getting a call to do a wedding and seeing the bride and groom and realising they are ugly as sin....and then backing out cause he doesnt want lame looking people on his reel...that would be some lame ****...you do the job the best you can and make them happy.

Rehash on what Rich said. I don't think anyone hates what Matt did. I just don't see that in the comments. I don't really see why you're dragging up the other thread either.

It seemed like you were looking for fire when there's none to be found. It's impressive what Matt has accomplished in a short period of time, and that's already been said in about four different threads.

dude, seriously, im all about giving respect...but like, do we need a dozen threads on this? sheeesh

I agree; props props props

But if I see one more thread with this video in it I'm axeing it.

And Timekoder? Re-read the thread; you missed something somewhere down the line; we've been pimping Matt since 03; no hate at all

Rich, I love your work. I didn't phrase it clearly enough. I was only talking about the backhanded statements, not the neutral or complimentary ones. You and I both know dude gets criticized a lot b/c people were sick of him being big upped so much. I as an editor NEVER flame anyone, no matter how Bootay the work looks b/c I never know what someone is working with. You know the "$500 give me a $1mil looking video or the here's our crappy footage now make it look awesome" job. You just never know what any of us have to deal with unless you ask or are told. Comments like (I'm paraphrasing) "nothing special," "he's lost it," "boring" you get the jist, do not take into consideration that a mofo who was just doing HS calc and going to a prom is directing one of the biggest groups of the last 20 years comeback effort. What did they expect? Paul Hunter and "Tha Next Episode" mixed with the last 5 VMA winners for Video of the Year all wrapped in one package? If it's just me then fine, but I damn sure feel like people are salivating waiting for homie to fail. In hiphop we call them subliminals, but they're still jabs. But like I said, I've always liked your work.

I was looking for someone else's video and came across the various threads and was looking in them for a link to the video because which threads had the links wasn't clear. It seemed like there were three different videos being discussed. I wasn't trolling for fire homie.
Anyway, to show how a 100% I keep it; I may have a job for you. These Boston Reggaeton artists who may not be able to afford me. I see your rates are probably more attractive to them. The manager owns or runs a club up there that they wanna shoot in. And the rest of the storyline I guess y'all can figure out. He's coming to town to try and talk me down this weekend. I'll send him your way if I can't talk him back up.

Peace to all the lovers in the house.
